The Process
Des begins with a brief introduction to intuitive painting, explaining its principles and encouraging participants to let go of any expectations or preconceived notions about their artistic abilities.
During the painting session, Des provides gentle guidance and encouragement, helping participants tap into their intuition and express themselves freely through brushstrokes, color choices or suggestions to spark inspiration, but ultimately, the focus is on allowing each individual to follow their own creative impulses.
Through the act of painting without a plan, they can explore their thoughts, feelings, and innermost desires in a nonverbal way, transcending the limitations of language.
At the end of the session, participants have the opportunity to reflect on their artwork and share their experiences with the group if they feel comfortable doing so. This reflective practice encourages self-awareness and fosters a sense of community among participants, who may find solace in knowing that they are not alone in their struggles and triumphs.
Overall, Des Spencer's intuitive painting experience offers a powerful tool for self-expression for individuals with disabilities, empowering them to embrace their creativity and connect with their inner selves in a profound and meaningful way.
